How are team swim fees determined?
Stoney Creek Aquatic Team is a not-for-profit organization. In order to keep swim fees as low as possible the swim fees are calculated based on the actual yearly cost of running the team divided by the number of swimmers on the team. These costs include pool rental fees, coaching, Swim Ontario team fees, Swim Ontario individual fees, coaches registration, and various other costs.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds to swimmers. We have limited spots and our fees are based on full capacity. The swim fees are literally the cost of running the team divided by the number of swimmers. We are a not-for-profit so we don't carry much of a balance from year to year. The fees for most swim teams are significantly higher, but we are able to to keep our costs down by running a tight ship.
What other costs are there for families?
In order to be on a swim team in Ontario, all teams and each individual swimmer must be registered with Swim Ontario. Swim Ontario fees differ based on age and level of competition. More details about this year's Swim Ontario fees can be found here:

Swimmer Categories:
You will be required to choose a category for your swimmer during registration. This is based on your intentions for the swim season. The main consideration when choosing a category is whether the swimmer will be participating in swim meets or just training with the team.
Competitive swimmers are classified as swimmers who take part in sanctioned competitions while Pre-Competitive swimmers do not participate in sanctioned competitions. Swimmers may be upgraded from Pre-Competitive to Competitive at any time paying the difference in fees (communicate with the coach for more information).
Swimmers may move from Competitive to Pre-Competitive, however not within the same season according to Swim Ontario rules.
Each category has a different fee based on age and competition level and once a swimmer is registered, they can not move down from competitive to pre-competitive until the next season.
What are the equipment costs?
Each swimmer is responsible for bringing and maintaining their own equipment. At the beginning of the swim season all swimmers will be provided with a Stoney Creek Aquatic Team T-shirt and swim cap.
In addition to personal items (towels, deck shoes, and toiletries), swimmers should be equipped with the following items:
A water bottle labelled with the swimmer’s name for hydration
An appropriate one-piece practice swimsuit and a pair of goggles
a swim cap
A pull buoy
A pair of flippers
A pair of hand paddles
A labelled mesh bag
A kick board (optional)
What are some of the other costs?
Typically, because we compete in swim meets throughout the year, we register most swimmers as competitive but we leave that option up to parents. Some swimmers may wish to swim for fitness or cross-training or just for fun to be part of a team. Others want to compete.
We love competition and think it is an important part of the team atmosphere. Swim Meets are not mandatory, but coaches will encourage "competitive" swimmers to participate. We generally attend an average one swim meet a month (plus regionals, festivals, and provincials for those who qualify).
Swim meets are scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays (sometimes on both days). Each swim meet must be paid "a-la-carte" based on your child’s participation. Swim meet costs are different for each meet and are paid upon registration for the specific meet.
Canadian Tire JUMPSTART
Jumpstart helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities.
If you know an athlete in need of financial assistance, you can find more information here on individual child grants here:

The Stoney Creek Aquatic Team has been lucky enough in the past to be selected by @CTJumpstart to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund! The fund helped community sport organizations like ours continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids. This grant went a long way towards helping us to resume swim practices and make swimming affordable for all of our S.C.A.T families during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Please continue to support Jumpstart through donations at your local Canadian Tire store so that this organization can continue to help kids all across Canada.
